The creative team of saxophonist Emilio Modeste and vocalist Natasha Agrama Clarke have created a multi-dimensional modern music group known as INSTANT ALTER. Blending jazz, rock, soul, Brazilian Tropicalia and spoken word their sound can best be described as 21st century future fusion. Although still in their 20's both are seasoned musicians. Emilo Modeste has toured and recorded with Stanley Clarke, Julius Rodriguez, and Kassa Overall. Natasha Agrama Clarke has toured and recorded with Stanley Clarke, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, and Austin Peralta. The touring band is a Quartet and features some of the hottest young musicians working today including bassists Brandon Rose, Jermaine Paul, and drummers Miguel Russell, and Myles Martin.
INSTANT ALTER has brought their electrifying live show to stages across the US and Mexico, including The Future Sounds of Jazz Festival at The Broad Stage (Santa Monica), Roulette Intermedium (Brooklyn), Jazzatlan (CDMX), and Nublu Jazzfest (NYC). Their tours have reached cities from Los Angeles, New York, and
Chicago to Mexico City, Tijuana, and beyond connecting with thousands of hearts and minds through innovative improvisation, emotional depth and powerful storytelling. Expanding beyond sound, INSTANT ALTER incorporates live analog video sequencing, overhead projection, sculpture, and printed materials into their performances, while their one-of-a-kind merch has earned praise for its uniqueness.
INSTANT ALTER is the new Future Fusion group. In a world full of one-dimensional and referential musical stylings, they cut through the noise with a fearless genre-bending and fresh sound.
Emilio Modeste (@EmilioLModeste) is a saxophonist and composer from New York City. Perhaps best known for his time performing with the late trumpet great Wallace Roney, he is currently touring with the bands of Stanley Clarke , Cindy Blackman Santana, and Kassa Overall. Equally as adept on tenor or soprano, Modeste's singular
shining tone and sense of melody creates a gravitational field that pulls in even the most reluctant of listeners. This can be most recently heard on Steve Turre's Generations (Smoke Records) and Dezron Douglas' Atalaya (International Anthem) from 2022, and he is featured on Stanley Clarke's upcoming album as well. A student of the
great drummer and producer Lenny White, Modeste explores endless styles of musical expression in his artistry.
Natasha Agrama (@natashalovesit) is a vocalist, composer, poet, and multi-disciplinary artist from Los Angeles, California. Agrama has toured the world as a member of Stanley Clarke's band and has performed and recorded with Kamasi Washington and the West Coast Get Down. Granddaughter of renowned Chilean crooner Antonio Prie to, Natasha's velvet-fire voice carries forth storied victory of love, the journey to truth from illusion, and the history of finding and belonging in a new world that jazz embodies. Her 2017 release, The Heart of Infinite Change (Alphapup) features Thunder cat, George Duke, Austin Peralta, Vinnie Coaluta, and Stanley Clarke.
